Sony kids’ catch-up on YouView

January 10, 2017

Sony Pictures Television’s portfolio of kids’ channels is launching a catch-up service on UK Internet TV platform YouView from January 10th.

Following YouView’s recent announcement of a re-engineering and redesign of the entire platform, Sony Kids is the first player to launch since the roll out of the new software. Sony Kids brings together Sony’s three hugely-popular UK kids channels POP, Tiny Pop and KIX on one player offering catch-up, scroll back and search functionality. Leveraging YouView’s Cloud technology, Sony Kids will be seamlessly integrated into YouView’s slicker and faster user experience.

“We are very excited to launch the Sony Kids player on YouView enabling children and families to catch up on our great content, whenever they want it,” declared Kate Marsh, EVP Western Europe.

David Faulkner, Head of Corporate and Business Development, YouView, described Sony Kids as “a great addition” to the platform’s already strong line up of Players and Apps. “We strive to offer content for all ages as well as families and Sony Kids helps to grow our offering,” he added.

The service will be free across all YouView connected devices including BT TV and TalkTalk TV homes and caters for boys and girls aged 4 to 10 years old. Kids across the UK will be able to enjoy popular content, including Power Rangers Dino Super Charge!, Lego Friends, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Angry Birds, whenever they want.

With YouView’s seven-day catch up service giving viewers the opportunity to scroll backwards in the guide to select the highlighted show they want to watch, viewers will never miss a show again, says Sony.
