Edgeware leads 3 markets in VoD technology provision

February 22, 2017

In its latest IPTV Market Leader Report, Kagan Research, part of S&P Global Market Intelligence, has named Edgeware as the VoD server software market leader in three out of its six tracked regions. TheTV CDN technology specialist is one of 32 technology vendors that were tracked by Kagan in four categories – VoD server software, set-top boxes, middleware and content protection. Edgeware was ranked as the number one provider in the VoD category across Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Latin America and Caribbean.

Alongside this top position in multiple regions, the report also states that in 2015 Edgeware globally overtook Swedish technology giant Ericsson in two separate categories. Edgeware technology now delivers content to the third highest total number of IPTV subscribers, and also has the highest number of VoD servers installed in customers’ delivery infrastructures worldwide.

There are currently over 1000 Edgeware servers installed in TV CDN infrastructures worldwide, which collectively have been in operation for more than 2000 years. Lauded for their reliability, the Edgeware servers experience less than one failure for every ten years of operation.

“As we help deliver TV to today’s more connected audience, this report from Kagan is confirmation of the impact we’re having in multiple areas of the content delivery industry,” said Edgeware CEO Joachim Roos. “It reflects a growing trend for operators to build their own TV CDNs, to improve the quality of their viewing experience and lower their CDN service costs.”
