beIN Sports back on UAE screens
July 24, 2017

July 22nd saw beIN Sports channels return to screens in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The channels have been dark since the June 5th diplomatic dispute started between the UAE and Saudi Arabia with fellow-Qatari broadcaster Al-Jazeera.
“We would like to advise that starting 22 July 2017, the BeIN package will be available to customers and normal charges will apply,” Etisalat told subscribers to its eLife TV package in message. “The provision of the BeIN package will be subject to an ongoing review,” the message added. Du, the UAE’s other telco-based pay-TV provider, put its BeIN channels back online at the same time.
However, while sports fans in the UAE are partially satisfied (the channels are still not on OSN, the main regional DTH operator) there is no sign of either Al Jazeera or the Baraem TV news channels reappearing anytime soon.
