Wilfried Urner is the new CEO at SES-owned media services and playout division MX1. The former CEO, and part of the team running the former RR Media which SES acquired last year, Avi Cohen, leaves immediately.

Cohen joined RR Media in July 2012 and supported the merger of RR Media with SES Platform Services.

“With Wilfried succeeding Avi as CEO of MX1, the company will continue on its successful path to become the world’s first media globaliser,” said Ferdinand Kayser, CEO of SES Video. “Avi has positioned MX1 as an infrastructure-independent provider of innovative digital video and media solutions for the broadcast and media industries across the globe. We would like to thank him for his contributions and wish him well for the future.”

In January 2017, news emerged that a number of senior managers at the former RR Media had been alleged to have conspired to defraud RR Media. MX1 initiated an action against the individuals. Cohen was not amongst those charged in any way.

SES paid $242 million (€206m) to acquire RR Media.
