TRX, the online deal-making tool for buying and selling TV rights, is now available to all buyers and sellers around the world, allowing them to engage, negotiate and agree key deal terms online for the first time ever.
Several leading distribution companies have now listed thousands of hours of content on TRX, marking the global launch of the tech start-up ahead of Mipcom 2017.
Most significantly, TRX has announced its agreement with BBC Worldwide for the BBC’s commercial arm, the UK’s largest distributor with annual revenues of £422 million, to list its entire catalogue of 9,500 titles comprising some 40,000 hours on TRX and pilot the sales tool progressively with buyers over the coming year. Other early adopters such as Sky Vision, All3Media International and Discovery Communications have now been joined by, among others, Antenna Group, Bloomberg, Earth Touch, Escapade Media, Lightning International, Orange Smarty and 3DD Group.
The global launch of TRX follows the completion of a successful 18 months’ beta phase.
Content from distributors will be available to more than 500 buyers who have registered pre-launch with TRX, which is already home to over 15,000 hours of programming. Other high profile distributors are expected to agree terms to sell through TRX within the next few weeks.
TRX makes programme distribution faster and easier and opens up premier catalogues to all TV programme buyers, who are able to search for content, get instant rights availabilities and make offers for programme rights all online.
TRX has attracted investment to date in excess of £11 million from individuals and strategic investors including VC Edge Investments, Channel 4 and Sky, the latter most recently doubling its exposure with a further £1 million of funding last month.
TRX was established in 2014 by former RDF Media and Zodiak executives and brothers, David and Matthew Frank.
