fuboTV passes 100k subs

October 11, 2017

As the new NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons get underway, fuboTV, the sports-first live streaming TV service in the US, passed the 100,000 subscriber milestone in September.

Originally launching in January 2015 as a streaming soccer destination, fuboTV has – in less than a year – built a new OTT  live service that offers fans the most sports for (what it claims) the least money.  The company’s new base package, Fubo Premier, officially launched in April 2017 and now includes 65-plus channels, including more that carry sports programming than any other streaming service’s similar bundle.  This includes local stations, regional sports networks (RSNs) and some of the country’s most popular national channels, through which more than 100,000 fans can now use fuboTV to watch their favourite teams – as well as entertainment and news programming – via desktop computers, mobile phones, tablets and TV-connected devices.

Over the past six months, Fubo Premier has added several new channels to its line-up, including from CBS Corporation (CBS, CBS Sports Network, Pop and CBSN), MSG Networks (MSG and MSG+) and Scripps Networks Interactive (HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel) as well as NFL Network, Pac-12 Network, FUSION TV, and several new local CBS and FOX affiliates.  fuboTV’s “Sports Plus” add-on package added NFL RedZone and several regional FOX College Sports and Pac-12 Network channels.   Additionally, fuboTV recently expanded its cloud DVR capacity, has invested in upgrading its technology, user interface and user experience, and launched out of Beta on several devices (i.e., Apple TV, iOS and Android devices, and Chromecast).

“We are pleased to have surpassed the symbolic 100,000-subscriber milestone so quickly – following investments in national and regional sports networks, and the infrastructure to support this expanded array of premium content,” said fuboTV Co-Founder and CEO David Gandler.  “Given macro tailwinds driven by a fundamental change in consumer behaviour, we anticipate the next 100,000 subscribers to join fuboTV at an accelerating pace.”
