Streaming platform and device specialist Roku has unveiled two new streaming players in the UK, which it says will give people who enjoy TV better ways to connect to the streaming entertainment they love. Roku Express is the most affordable streaming player Roku ever launched in the UK, priced at just £29.99 (€33.50) MSRP. Roku Streaming Stick+ is the first Roku streaming stick that is capable of streaming HD, 4K and 4K HDR at up to 60 fps.
“The Roku Express is one of our most popular streaming players and we are excited to bring it to the UK. It is a great starting point for first time streamers or for people looking to extend the Roku experience to other TVs,” said Chas Smith, general manager of Roku TVs and players. “Consumers will love our new sleek Roku Streaming Stick+ with an innovative advanced wireless receiver that gives up to four times the wireless range and a remote that controls TV volume and power. At £79.99, it makes HD, 4K and HDR streaming simple.”
According to Roku, the Roku Express is great for those who are looking to stream to the TV for the first time, extend their Roku OS experience to other TVs in the home, or give the gift of streaming. This is the second-generation of the Roku Express and is five times more powerful than its predecessor.
The Roku Streaming Stick+ is small, powerful and portable for those who are on the move or want their streaming player hidden behind their TV. This new model offers up to four times the wireless range to minimise buffering. It includes the 4K Spotlight Channel that offers instant access to 4K movies and TV shows from various streaming channels.
Consumers can also download the free Roku mobile app for iOS and Android devices which acts as a remote, streams media from a mobile device to the TV, includes a keyboard and offers features such as voice search and private listening.
The Roku streaming players will be available online starting from October 19th and are expected to arrive in stores towards the end of October. The Roku Express and Roku Streaming Stick+ will be available for a suggested retail price of respectively £29.99 and £79.99.
