The Spanish Football League La Liga aims to reach 400 million viewers in Asia by 2020 – effectively doubling its current audience.

Javier Tebas, president of La Liga has stated that the viewership has increased by 25 per cent in a year in the region. To consolidate its presence La Liga has opened offices in Singapore and Japan this year, and already has offices in China and India.

Tebas said that La Liga is also investing in “technologies and implemented things like aerial cameras and 360-degree cameras at some of our stadiums,”

“This means that La Liga fans can experience match footage in ways they have never seen before, and share it on social media. We are aiming to bring this experience to all the matches, which will help us differentiate ourselves from other soccer leagues,” he explained.
