Sony: Google TV devices in Europe this year
February 15, 2012
Google TV products will be released in Europe in 2012, according to Sony. Sony said Google TV’s previous disappointing launch in the US was due to the lack of a dedicated storefront to support the platform. It said it is confident the launch of the Android Market will help reverse its fortunes.
Google TV will launch in Europe with networked media and Blu-ray players. Sony’s NSZ-GP9 Google TV Blu-ray Disc Player, which features voice control, a digital remote and motion support, will serve as a flagship device. Sony also told Pocket-lint that its forthcoming Google TV products will offer PC-quality web surfing through the Chrome browser, which will include Adobe Flash support.
