Portugal Telecom cross platform soccer

Portugal Telecom will air live coverage of 16 games of the Portuguese Football League (Liga Sagres) simultaneously on TV (Meo), mobile phones (Meo Mobile) and on the Internet (Sapo portal).

The partnership between Portugal Telecom, public broadcaster RTP and rights holder Sportinveste Multimédia will permit the transmission of the 16 league matches in the period between January 24th and May 24th. RTP's mobile unit, RTP Mobile, will provide the coverage for mobile phone operators TMN/Meo Mobile and Vodafone Portugal. The games to be aired will be selected among the most important of the week and will involve at least one of the three major clubs (Benfica, Sporting or Porto). The games will also be available on the RTP website (for those living in Portugal) on the Sapo portal and on IPTV service Meo.

The first match to be aired will be Sporting Braga – FC Porto, the game will be offered free of charge for Vodafone clients equipped with a 3G mobile phone, while the remaining 15 will be available to those clients with a subscription to the mobile TV service.
