Solaris Mobile targets France
March 25, 2010
Solaris Mobile, the Dublin based pioneer of European next generation mobile communication networks, has presented its plans for commercial content distribution within the French market.
The new services benefit from the advantages of a hybrid network leveraging terrestrial mobile infrastructure capabilities, and the ubiquitous coverage of a satellite reaching 100 per cent of the territory.
At present, Solaris Mobile is carrying out trials in Paris, demonstrating the broadcast of TV, radio and data services to phones, other handheld devices and cars – across the city and surrounding areas which represents what the future commercial service would look like.
Solaris Mobile is the only company currently to have an operational satellite within the S-Band spectrum, allocated under a process managed by the European Commission, across Europe, making them the first company to be able to offer a service of this kind.
