KDH acquires Primacom homes

November 2, 2010

Kabel Deutschland (KDH), Germany’s largest cable operator, has confirmed the acquisition of approximately 70,000 cable households from Level 4 operator Primacom. The households are located in the city of Osnabrueck (approximately 40,000) in Lower Saxony and in the area of Mainz (approximately 30,000) in Rhineland-Palatinate.

KDH currently provides video signals to these households through a wholesale contract with Primacom. The acquisition will allow KDH to directly access the households so now KDH’s Premium TV and Internet and phone services can be offered.

The acquisition will be submitted for approval of the Federal Cartel Office. Closing is anticipated for the month of November.

Meanwhile, KDH has launched its superfast DOCSIS 3.0 Internet products with speeds of up to 100 Mbit/s in three additional cities: Bremen, Kiel and Magdeburg. This launch will allow 570,000 additional households to benefit from KDH’s 60 Mbit/s and 100 MBit/s flat Internet & Phone bundles.
