AwoX mediaCTRL middleware provides a DLNA compatible solution for accessing multimedia files stored in home networks

December 21, 2010

AwoX, a leading international supplier of network  media solutions, announces that Loewe, the premium brand in the in-home entertainment sector in Europe, has chosen to use AwoX mediaCTRL middleware in its new line of LED flat-screen televisions. AwoX mediaCTRL enables Loewe products to stream multimedia content in home networks and via the Internet.

After evaluating the leading multimedia middleware options, Loewe integrated mediaCTRL into its connected television platform, which includes an STMicroelectronics microcontroller and an Opera Web browser. The DLNA-certified mediaCTRL middleware provides Loewe with advanced connectivity options to other DLNA devices as well as to on-line services so that users can easily stream video, music, and even pictures on their televisions. AwoX is a leading figure in the DLNA movement and provides one of the industry reference platforms for DLNA certification.

Working with AwoX has many positive points for Loewe. The robust implementation of DLNA guidelines ensures that the new Loewe LED televisions fully integrate into today’s demanding multimedia environment, and that they will remain compatible with numerous other consumer products. With Ethernet and Wi-Fi connectivity, the new products were launched at IFA in September 2010.

“Loewe’s decision to choose mediaCTRL for these high-end connected TVs is the result of many years of effort on our part to develop modular solutions that embody the DLNA standard,” says Alain Moliné, CEO of AwoX. “We have proven compatibility with other key technology partners, such as STMicroelectronics and Opera Software, not to mention our role as a reference platform provider for global DLNA certification.”
