Digital entertainment solutions provider Rovi has unveiled the Rovi Media Cloud, a suite of entertainment web services that is designed to enable the rapid creation of innovative new products, services and applications for the connected consumer.
According to the company, the initiative demonstrates its plans to continue to power the next wave of digital entertainment offerings with content discovery, delivery, and enhanced interactivity capabilities that support advertising and drive consumer engagement.
Corey Ferengul, EVP of product management and marketing at Rovi, said the company was collaborating with industry leaders to help them innovate and design solutions that meet consumer demand for a better way to find and access entertainment content.
One such collaboration is with set-top box and TV semiconductor solutions provider Trident Microsystems. The integrated solution will enable consumer electronics manufacturers quickly to incorporate TotalGuide, an advanced media guide that combines access to broadcast, broadband and personal content on one user interface, on TVs and set-top boxes using Trident chips.
Samsung is using Rovi entertainment data and advertising to enhance consumers’ content discovery experience on Samsung’s Smart TVs, while DENSO Corporation, one of Japan’s biggest automotive audio system OEMs and one of the world’s leading suppliers of automotive systems, has signed a licence to use the Rovi Automotive Solution in DENSO’s Car Infotainment Systems.
