CME rolls out Voyo VOD

March 17, 2011

VOD service, Voyo, will be rolled out across all six Central and Eastern countries, over the next eight months by CME. First launched at the beginning of 2011 in the Czech Republic, the Voyo video portal currently offers users catch-up content of local shows and series as well as the free streaming of live events such as Champions League Football and music concerts.  TV Nova has traditionally offered local TV series for viewers to enjoy on its website, but since CME introduced paid content and the new brand, traffic has increased by 30%.

Voyo+ is the premium section of the service where users can pay to see episodes of their favorite shows and series ahead of transmission on TV as well as the latest local and international movies brought from the Czech/Slovak Distributer Bonton. Currently CME is the only TV station in the Czech market to have complex VOD services. To pay for VoD, sers simply send an SMS short code and the cost of the movie is added to their phone bill.

The next country where Voyo will be launched is Croatia in the second quarter of the year, with the rest of the markets following suit in the subsequent months. The streaming service will also be available on smart flat screens and mobile devices by the end of the year.

CME now has over 60 online products and services with 8.5 million average monthly real users.  In the New Media Division as a whole in 2010, online traffic grew by 25% year-on-year with customer numbers increasing by 20% and revenue increasing by 17% in constant currency over the year.
