Sencore launches new Broadpeak Solutions for Video on Demand and Content Delivery Networks
April 13, 2011
At the 2011 NAB Show, Sencore announced the launch of a new line of video-on-demand (VOD) servers and solutions for content delivery networks (CDNs), a direct result of the company’s new global sales and market development partnership with Broadpeak. Under the new agreement, Sencorewill be the exclusive North American representative of the Broadpeak product lines — including the BkM100 CDN mediator and the BkS family of live and on-demand multiformat servers.
“Our partnership with Sencore in North America represents a key milestone for us,” said Jacques Le Mancq, president of Broadpeak. “Not only will Sencore’s wide, established distribution network create significant opportunities for deployment of our CDN solutions, but our alignment with a well-respected industry leader like Sencore will pay dividends too. As Broadpeak grows, we want to partner with companies like Sencore that share our commitment to providing game-changing solutions that help our customers compete in a rapidly evolving landscape.”
Based in Rennes, France, Broadpeak provides CDNs and VOD servers for cable, IPTV, and hybrid TV operators worldwide. Sencore is a leading manufacturer of signal quality and video delivery solutions and is headquartered in Sioux Falls, S.D. The agreement allows both companies to offer proven solutions that enable over-the-top and cloud-based media streaming services.
“The launch of the new Sencore Broadpeak product line is an important milestone for our company as we expand our presence in the realm of content delivery networks and video-on-demand servers,” said Thomas Stingley, executive vice president of sales and marketing at Sencore. “By offering this new line of cost-effective products, our customers now have access to proven solutions for deploying advanced content delivery networks that will give their end-customer a much higher quality of experience than competing products.”
The Sencore BkM100 CDN mediator is a unified content delivery network manager enabling network service providers to allocate content efficiently across a large network and manage multiple simultaneous viewing requests for many devices. The Sencore BkS100 video streaming server stores content on hard drives, flash, and RAM to deliver transport streams to the requesting device. Finally, the Sencore BkS200 is ideal for applications that use Flash, HLS, or Silverlight smooth streaming. The BkS series is designed to support value-added applications such as VoD, network personal video recording (NPVR), and network time shifting (NTS) services, as well as any delinearised delivery to multiple screens.
