Bridge Technologies has announced the VB242, an ASI input option card for real-time high-density monitoring for remote head-end applications. As part of the VideoBRIDGE monitoring ecosystem, or integrated with third-party monitoring systems, the VB242 offers up to 13 ASI inputs in a single 1RU chassis in combination with the VB220 or VB120 controllers.
Designed for existing infrastructures in the head-end and the regional edge-multiplexer/modulator/transmitter site, the VB242 complements the already-extensive range of input interfaces for the VideoBRIDGE series probes. Functioning either in continuous ETSI TR 101 290 analysis, or in sequential round-robin monitoring, each VB242 card offers full-time monitoring of two inputs, or sequential monitoring of six. A chassis fitted with two VB242s offers full-time monitoring of up to five ASI streams.
The VB242 card can also be combined with different input interface modules from the VideoBRIDGE range, for a multi-functional capability within the same chassis.
The VB242 option takes its place alongside Bridge Technologies’ existing range of probes and interfaces for all points in the digital media chain, and is fully compatible with the sophisticated VideoBRIDGE monitoring and analysis environment, which provides the visual analysis and monitoring tools required to make instant sense of very large amounts of data. Alternatively, the VB242 can be used in a VideoBRIDGE probe integrated with third-party systems through its Eii external integration interface.
“The VB242 offers a big step up in density for ASI monitoring at the head-end,” said Simen Frostad, chairman, Bridge Technologies. “Energy efficiency and efficient use of space is high on the agenda for everyone, and in keeping with other recent Bridge Technologies products, the VB242 will help media operators keep costs down and raise performance at the same time.”
The award-winning VideoBRIDGE system is the first complete satellite-to-set-top-box monitoring solution for digital media operators, with probes for all points in the network, and all data and signal types. Compatible with the major stream-based industrial standards such as MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, and DVB/ATSC – ETSI TR 101 290, the VideoBRIDGE series offers a complete end-to-end system for the continuous quality assurance of digital media networks. With many patented innovations that give broadcasters and telecommunications companies an unprecedented ability to anticipate technical problems and resolve them before service to the subscriber is affected, VideoBRIDGE is at the forefront of digital media measurement and monitoring technologies.
