Logiways selects Access’ HbbTV and DLNA technologies for its hybrid TV solution

April 27, 2011

Access CO, a global provider of advanced software technologies to the mobile, beyond-PC and digital TV markets, has announced that following a successful trial, Logiways, the French VOD, conditional access and TV middleware specialist, has selected Access’ solutions including NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition, NetFront Widgets and NetFront Living Connect 2.0 DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) software, for integration with Magello, its DVB middleware product.

NetFront Browser DTV Profile HbbTV Edition is a market-proven, platform-independent HbbTV software solution with a small RAM/ROM footprint and low CPU power consumption, which allows Logiways’ customers to launch HbbTV capable devices and services quickly, efficiently and affordably. NetFront Living Connect 2.0 is a DLNA Technology ComponentTM solution that allows Logiways’ customers to deliver home network DLNA connectivity to consumers. NetFront Widgets enables the creation of an Internet widget ecosystem through which service providers can deliver high value Web 2.0 services to consumers.

“Our customers demand rich and interactive solutions at an affordable cost, and with the integration of Access technology, Logiways is poised to take the market to a whole new level by offering a complete hybrid solution for customers who want to deploy HbbTV STBs,” said Laurent Pellegrin, Logiways’ CEO. “We chose Access because they’re a one-stop shop for all our IP requirements. Their HbbTV, DLNA and widget solutions are widely deployed and competitively priced, enabling optimal end-user device cost. Our technical team extensively tested all of Access’ solutions and found them to be reliable and robust.”

“Access is unique because we’re the only provider of globally deployed and supported HbbTV and DLNA software solutions that can be pre-integrated to create a complete solution,” said Dr. Neale Foster, VP of global sales IA, at Access. “We’re delighted that Logiways has seen the benefit of this and decided to integrate our widget platform as well. With widgets, HbbTV and DLNA we cover all bases for middleware vendors needing to deploy next-generation TV services and applications.”

Logiways has developed a complete portfolio of solutions for consumer electronic device manufacturers looking to provide market-leading solutions including Magello, a scalable DVB middleware, SafeAccess, the only EAL4+ CAS conditional access system and VodAccess, a unique push-VOD solution.

Logiways’ ACCESS powered middleware will be demonstrated at ANGA Cable in Cologne from May 3 to 5 (10.1/Q9).
