AXN Black to launch in Portugal

Portugal has been selected as the first European country for the launch of AXN Black, a new channel dedicated to series and movies.

AXN Black will premiere on May 9th, in High Definition, replacing anime channel Animax, in the programming offer of various Portuguese pay-TV platforms (Zon, Meo, Cabovisao, Vodafone, Optimus Clix and Ar Telecom).

The programme schedule will include TV series and movies from the US, as well as productions from other markets, such as the UK, Germany, Denmark, Canada and Australia, among others. AXN Black will also have a special segment dedicatd to 3D programmes.

Highlights include BBC production “Criminal Justice”, HBO series “Boardwalk Empire”, as well as hit series such as “The Vampire Diaries” and “Little Mosque on the Prairie”.

AXN Black will also be available from next month in Spain and a Europe-wide launch will follow in 2012.
