BSkyB: ‘3D can be new HD’
May 17, 2011
BSkyB head of 3D John Cassy said at Informa’s 3D World Forum that intends “to do for 3D what it has done for HD.” He said Sky would roll out 3D in the same way it has done with HD and would propel UK to be a world leader in the technology.
But he said they had no plans yet to charge for 3D (it is £10 a month for HD) and predicted that additional revenue for 3D in the future could come from advertising. He said several clients were working with Sky to exploit 3D but a bigger audience would need to be gained before the whole advertising sector would be engaged.
