EVO launching IPTV in Bulgaria

EVO, a regional Internet Service Provider in Bulgaria, has started offering higher bandwidth and new, high-quality data services such as IPTV, to its customers. The service provider is upgrading its network to increase capacity and provide improved services. Under a three-year contract, Nokia Siemens Networks is supplying its Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology for the upgrade.

“Our goal is to improve the individual experience and satisfaction of our subscribers by providing new high-quality services, and increasing network capacity,” said Rosen Velikov, CEO of EVO. “Nokia Siemens Networks’ solution will translate into a more cost-efficient network expansion and also guarantee extremely reliable and high-quality data services to our subscribers.”

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks is supplying the customer premise equipment (CPE), providing EVO.bg subscribers the option to connect Internet and IPTV as well as legacy telephone services simultaneously. Nokia Siemens Networks is also supplying the Optical Line Termination Unit to consolidate all traffic from the CPEs and services such as installation and maintenance to the Internet Service Provider for the Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) infrastructure.
