Cisco is collaborating with Chinese cable operator, Oriental Cable Network (OCN), to develop next-generation video experiences for consumers based on Cisco Videoscape, an open platform that utilises the cloud, the network, and client devices to deliver new video experiences over the Internet. OCN, one of the China’s largest cable operators, will deploy Videoscape to enable new multi-screen video services for PCs, tablets, smart phones and other mobile devices for its customer base throughout Shanghai, China.

The Videoscape Quickstart solution, including Videoscape Media Suite, Content Delivery System IS (CDS-IS), Cisco Media Processor (CMP) and Cisco Digital Content Manager (DCM), will enable OCN to create new consumer experiences by giving subscribers the ability to access content from multiple devices, anywhere. Further, The Videoscape platform also enables OCN to establish the foundation needed for future capabilities, such as linear delivery to managed and unmanaged devices, Cloud DVR, VoD and companion experiences.
