Stern will help Google TV

June 27, 2012

Google is getting help from shock jock Howard Stern to revive its Internet TV software, which has languished since its debut 19 months ago.

Sirius XM will make all of its programming, including Howard Stern, available on Google TV, through a new app that will let listeners pause live programmes and play back up to five hours of content, according to Reuters.

Sirius XM joins a growing list of partners for Google TV such as Netflix and Amazon.com. But Google has still failed to convince TV networks and other content providers their shows should be available on Google TV.

Google TV is built into television models manufactured by Sony Corp, LG Electronics, as well as Vizio set-top boxes. Google has never revealed how many Google TVs have been sold and analysts have said the product has failed to gain traction with consumers.
