TV Solent chooses Canis Media to support local TV bid

July 16, 2012

Canis Media, the UK independent broadcast consultancy and TV services group, has announced that TV Solent, a newly-formed Hampshire-based media production company, has selected Canis to assist in the preparation of its bid for a UK Local Digital TV Programme Service (L-DTPS) Licence. TV Solent is supported and backed by Southampton Solent University.  It will operate from studio facilities on their campus in the centre of the city and make use of the expertise of its students and staff to complement its core team of media professionals.

“Canis Media’s local TV expertise and broadcast knowledge made them a clear choice as a launch and bid partner – it’s really reassuring to have the UK’s local TV experts on our side,” says Mark Southgate, who is leading the bid for TV Solent. “Canis Media’s deep understanding of the Local TV industry makes them perfectly positioned to provide us with a risk-evaluated, competitive application.  As audiences want to see and identify local content, it’s an exciting time for us to take advantage of this unique new opportunity to bring fresh, localised news and entertainment to Southampton and the surrounding area”.
