August 6, 2012

MetroPCS, the fifth largest wireless carrier in the United States, has teamed up with Samsung Telecommunications America to launch the Samsung Galaxy S Lightray 4G, the first smartphone in the US to offer live, local broadcast television with Dyle mobile TV.

Dyle was created when 12 major broadcast groups came together to develop a national mobile content service through a joint venture known as Mobile Content Venture (MCV). MCV is comprised of Fox, NBC, Telemundo, Pearl Mobile DTV and ION. The Pearl member companies include: Belo Corp, Cox Media Group, E.W. Scripps General, Inc, Gannett Broadcasting, Hearst, Media General, Meredith Corp, Post-Newsweek Stations, Inc and Raycom Media.

Access to the Dyle mobile TV service will be offered in select markets and at no additional charge to customers on a MetroPCS 4G LTE service plan.
