Rohde & Schwarz DVS GmbH SpycerBox impresses with maximum reliability and a further capacity increase

August 8, 2012

At booth 7.E25, visitors to this year’s IBC (September 7-11) will, amongst others, be able to see and learn how they can implement their disaster-recovery strategy cost-effectively through the direct use of Rohde & Schwarz DVS GmbH storage solutions. Thanks to their versatility and unparalleled performance, the SpycerBox family is perfect for use both in broadcast and post production environments. Furthermore, the integrated content-control system Spycer makes it convenient to distribute data across the entire network.

The central SpycerBox storage device – available in the versions SpycerBox Flex and SpycerBox Ultra – integrates into any storage environment thanks to its countless optional interfaces. In critical workflows in particular, where ultra-reliable and parallel mirroring – even in separate locations – of all data is demanded, SpycerBox is the ideal solution thanks to its high-availability feature set. As a result, SpycerBox is also perfect for direct inclusion in disaster-recovery strategies which companies use to ensure the continuity of their business processes. SpycerBox’s mirrored configuration prevents total outages and in doing so guarantees uninterrupted operation while ensuring performance remains unaffected. The integrated, easy-to-use failover functionality can be controlled by the user automatically or manually. All data is synchronized immediately – with almost zero latency – so it is always identical both on the primary and the secondary SpycerBox. The instant-failover function provides the user, especially in critical workflows such as 24-hour TV/video operations, with a high level of data reliability.

For IBC 2012, SpycerBox Ultra will feature an increased storage capacity of 96 TB. The SpycerBox family can be integrated into existing system architectures in a NAS or SAN configuration, or in a combination of the two.

The integration of LTO drives in combination with the proven content-control software Spycer® assists the user in storing and administering their data across the entire network. And thanks to a metadata search function and offline-proxy preview, data can be found quickly.

Henner Steinwede, DVS Product Manager: “With its high-availability feature set, the SpycerBox family is excellent for use in post-production and broadcast environments. In the industry, DVS storage solutions are extremely popular for many reasons including their modularity and high performance levels. These high standards are complemented perfectly by the new feature set – which we’ll gladly demonstrate on our IBC booth to trade show visitors.”
