Prisa TV and Cisco to upgrade its iPlus STB

Spanish media group Prisa TV, owner of digital DTH platform Canal Plus, is developing, along with Cisco, a new generation of its iPlus STB to be launched in 2013 in an attempt to strenghthen its interactive capacity and integrate new functionalities.

Currently, its iPlus hybrid-PVR subscriber total stands at 574,440 with a growth of 33.2 per cent in comparison with last year. The company is intensifying its multiplatform delivery strategy to capture new subscribers.

Thus, Canal Plus, ended the second quarter with 1.831million pay-TV subscribers on its Canal Plus business, along with 100,209 from other operators and OTT, adding 40,968 new (satellite, OTT and from other operators) clients on the same period last year.
