Broadcast specialist Vision247, has been shortlisted for an Appsters 2012 award within the ‘Best TV App 2012’ category. Vision247’s Vision TV Network (VTN) App for the Roku Streaming Player has been selected from more than 250 entries. This is the UK’s first dedicated international language network of channels available via app, aggregating more than 30 premium channels of live international broadcast available through free and subscription packages.
Vision247 developed the TV app specifically for the Roku platform, providing viewers with access to packages of live simulcast and time delayed broadcast, video on demand, and interactive services on internet connected Roku streaming players. This mix of live TV and video on demand aggregates premium channels from national broadcasters around the world into the first simple-to-access and view international language TV package via an app.
Clive Hudson, vice president and general manager, Roku Europe, said: “Consumers are looking for more and more content to stream to their televisions. International channels are proving very popular in the UK and the Vision TV Network app expands our multilingual offering.”
John Mills, CEO, Vision247 said: “We have worked closely with Roku to be the first to bring live streamed packages of international language TV to its players through a dedicated app. It has involved overcoming a number of technical challenges, and for this reason the Appster shortlisting is especially gratifying.”
The Appsters are taking place as part of the Apps World event. Appsters winners will be announced on October 2nd in a ceremony taking place at the Kensington Roof Gardens.
