As if to reverse the somewhat negative publicity over India cable’s poor conversion rate of the four giant ‘metro’ cities being converted from analogue to digital TV, Hathway, one of India’s largest MSOs, says it has installed 1.7 million digital converter boxes in its regions.

The digital boxes have been supplied to Hathway clients in Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata and the MSO says it has another 600,000 in stock to finish the task.

Hathway says it, and its partners, now have 3 million digital subscribers as at the end of October, and have now started rolling out digital boxes to major Phase 2 cities throughout India.
