From David Del Valle in Madrid

Prisa-owned OTT service Canal Plus Yomvi is making a full-frontal assault on the Spain’s market with the launch of two flat fee services and its versions for Mac, Android and Smart TV devices.

With the aim of opening it up to a large number of users, the platform has launched a specific flat fee service dedicated to cinema, TV series and documentaries at a price of €7.95 a month. A second flat fee service priced at €14.95 a month will bring users football matches from the Spanish Football League and the European Champions League. Canal Plus Yomvi has also launched a pay-per-view service allowing users only to pay only for what they watch.

Canal Plus Yomvi has been operating for a year with 10 million downloads over the last year and has a catalogue of over 2,000 titles. With the launch of these new services Canal Plu Yomvi aims to better position in the market, said Pablo Romero, director of the OTT service. He added that other competitors are moving with the tide and “this is absolutely healthy since if there are different offers is because there is market”.
