Oregan to step into multiscreen with PVR and aggregated search

December 13, 2012

Oregan Networks plans to add “on the go” recording and viewing capability to its hybrid DTV platform, catering for both current and future MSO deployments. With new multiscreen EPG and PVR applications, running on Android and Apple iOS companion devices, consumers will be able to:

  • Synchronise their tablets, laptops and smart phones with the living room TV,
  • Access aggregated search,
  • Synchronise recorded libraries,
  • Remotely manage the scheduling options, including reminders and social alerts features.

Oregan Networks has a track record of success in deploying internet-enabling technologies on STBs and televisions. The additions to the Onyx platform rely on cloud-based technologies and will enable deploying service operators to deliver the convenience of remote use cases, as well as further branding opportunities. The ability to deliver a consistent video service experience across devices has become an integral part of today’s content distribution and marketing strategies, with Park Associates predicting that the number of Pay-TV providers in Western Europe offering multiscreen services will almost double over the next five years from approximately 50 in 2012 to 90 by 2016.

The company’s domain and expertise has been deeply embedded in the TV centric space, however the new product expands beyond its traditional area of focus.
