BSS acquires Intersat

Belgium Satellite Services s.a., (BSS) a major satellite service provider based in Europe announces the completion of acquisition of “Intersat”, one of well known service provider of Internet via satellite in Africa and M.East. With this acquisition, BSS expands its operations and service delivery in Middle East and African markets. Together with Intersat, BSS will build a bigger enterprise with one of the best service delivery to serve its customers in the region. Acquisition shall drive growth and innovation, and create new opportunities for customers, shareholders, employees and the communities in Africa and Middle East region.
BSS as a part of expansion strategy has now moved into Africa and incorporated its subsidiary in Kenya “BSS Africa Ltd.”. This is the service arm for its enterprise customers. Operations & Office in Kenya shall be headed by Mr. Hanif Kassam.
For Intersat, the technical, sales and customer service team remains same and shall work jointly with BSS team for sales, product and market development activities. This acquisition enhances virtually every element of BSS Group’s commercial business including wholesale and retail services and also strengthens its commitment to deliver reliable satellite service to our customers.
BSS also incorporated subsidiary in UAE “Intersat FZe” as a step towards its expansion program in Middle East.
As per Mr. Nitin Dhawan, BSS Group CEO “This acquisition shall provide an avenue to bring BSS expertise to African continent including GSM backhauling & voice termination connectivity to BSS’s Tier-1 service providers in Europe; Broadcasting; and finally to bring the internationally known BSS Teleport services to respective customers in Africa, for providing a one-stop ‘concept to completion’ solution to the clients. The combined strength shall widen service portfolio and thereby offer a unique value proposition to customers in Africa & Middle East.”
The combination strength shall revolutionize the Middle East & African satellite markets. Together, BSS and Intersat shall invest in customer-driven innovation with the potential to create new satellite services, markets and jobs.
