April 9, 2013

Kuala Lumpur, 9 April 2013 – MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn. Bhd. (“MEASAT”) announced today an agreement with CET Teleport GmbH (“CET Teleport”) for capacity on the AFRICASAT-1a satellite. Under the terms of the agreement, CET Teleport has secured C-band capacity on AFRICASAT-1a to support their growing presence across the African continent.
CET Teleport, one of the largest teleports in Europe, is located in northwest Germany. The teleport is ideally located to access satellites across the orbital arc from 58°W to 76.5°E to provide coverage and connectivity across most of the global landmass.

“MEASAT is proud to support CET Teleport’s satellite capacity requirements in the African region,” said Jarod Lopez, Vice-President, Broadcast Sales, MEASAT. “With the newly launched AFRICASAT-1a satellite, we are able to support expansion of services throughout Africa.”

Ken Armstrong, CEO of CET Teleport, said “We are delighted to be one of the first operators to take capacity on this modern new satellite. This capacity will greatly improve our C-band coverage of Africa, complementing the existing Ku-band coverage we have in the region to enable us to provide services to the whole continent of Africa.”
The AFRICASAT-1a satellite, with coverage across Africa and connectivity into Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, was launched on 7th February 2013 into the 46.0°E orbital slot.
