Analogue TV signals were switched off this past weekend in 5 Indian states (Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh) according to data from India’s Information & Broadcasting Ministry (I&B).

The Ministry says that more than 85 per cent of its digitisation targets had been met… From 38 target cities, 15 of them have achieved almost 100 percent digital conversion and a total of 13.6 million digital set-top converter boxes installed (by cable and DTH operators). The Ministry added that in March about 4 million set-top boxes were fitted in the 38 Phase 2 target cities.
