INSIDE Secure technology enables mobile downloads for popular UK on-demand service

April 17, 2013

INSIDE Secure, a specialist in embedded solutions for securing transactions, content and digital identity,  has worked with the BBC to provide the technology to enable viewers to download BBC TV programmes directly to smartphones or tablets for free. Viewers can keep them to enjoy for up to 30 days.

INSIDE Downloadable DRM Fusion Agent for both Android and iOS devices is integrated into the latest release of the BBC iPlayer iOS application (coming soon to Android devices). This will enable audiences in the UK to download their favourite BBC TV programmes easily and securely on their mobile devices.

“As mobile video continues to evolve from streaming services to services offering download and play offline, we will continue to evolve our DRM offerings to include advanced functionality, like download, while maintaining robust security,” said Dr. Simon Blake-Wilson, executive vice president for the embedded security solutions division at INSIDE Secure. “We are pleased to build on our leadership in DRM and support the expansion of secure mobile content delivery with one of the largest and most respected broadcast content providers in the world.”

INSIDE Secure offers DRM content protection as an embedded or downloadable solution. It is becoming the DRM security of choice among the world’s leading service providers and content owners. The INSIDE DRM Fusion offering combines standards compatibility with ease of deployment, allowing customers to quickly and cost-effectively bring new content services online. The newest addition to the DRM Fusion portfolio is a native player for Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).
