Malaysia’s Communications & Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has picked three potential bidders to create the nation’s digital terrestrial TV system.

The shortlisted bidders, drawn from 8 initial applicants, are: i-Media Broadcasting Solutions, Puncak Semangat, and Redtone Network – and each have submitted final proposed business plans. The MCMC regulator will announce the winning bidder in the fourth quarter of this year.

Redtone has Huawei, PWC and Media Broadcast as partners in its bid, and is seen as the front-runner. Redtone has signed 30 MOUs with various business partners and suppliers for the provision of content, supply of set-top boxes and other key elements.
