BBC World News on maritime vessels

July 29, 2013

From autumn, BBC World News bulletins will be available on board commercial maritime vessels via Telemar Scandinavia and NSSLGlobal. BBC World News will be broadcast several times daily, to all vessels that opt into the service, providing marine crews with access to BBC’s unparalleled coverage of international news, current affairs and sport.

Customers using Telemar and NSSLGlobal’s Ku- or C-Band network will be able to watch BBC World News’ daily bulletins without impacting on high broadband speeds through the use of the Multicast service.

Colin Lawrence, Distribution Director, BBC World News said, “We’re pleased to join together with Telemar and NSSLGlobal to offer BBC World News to over 800 vessels around the world. With journalists in more places than any other global news broadcaster, we’re able to deliver the news that marine crews need to remain connected to the wider world.”
