August 29, 2013

Sky+HD-boxBSkyB has revealed that its new Sky+HD and Sky+HD 2TB boxes are both now available with built-in Wi-Fi for the first time.

The new Sky+HD and Sky+HD 2TB personal video recorders (PVR) connect wirelessly to a home Wi-Fi network. Once connected, customers can instantly access Sky’s On Demand service, including up to the last 30 days of TV from the a range of catch-up TV services, the latest box sets, and hundreds of movies from Sky Movies and Sky Store. The new PVRs are also Sky’s most energy efficient yet.

To ensure that all homes with Sky+HD boxes can get connected, existing customers who have not yet used On Demand can receive a free On Demand connector. This connector will allow them to easily connect their set-top box to their Wi-Fi network, giving them instant access to hours of additional entertainment.

Luke Bradley-Jones, Sky’s Brand Director of TV Products, commented: “Record levels of On Demand viewing show that Sky customers love the flexibility the service offers. When people connect their Sky+HD box to broadband they get instant access to the UK’s biggest Catch Up TV service and an extensive On Demand library of TV Box Sets and exclusive movies – and we’re seeing a growing demand. We want even more people to enjoy these benefits, so we’re making it easier to get connected by launching our best ever Sky+HD box with built-in Wi-Fi and offering existing customers a free On Demand connector.”
