OSN adds TV Guide app

October 24, 2013

Middle East pay-TV broadcaster OSN (formerly Orbit-Showtime) has added a new-look TV Guide app and EPG whereby a user can control the viewer experience from iPads and tablets. OSN is widely seen as preparing for an IPO and has enjoyed a significant subscriber growth over the past few years.

“As the premium content provider in the MENA region, OSN prides itself on its easy-to-access and convenient programming models on both traditional and new media. The OSN TV Guide iPad app takes customer engagement to a new level by not only allowing subscribers to remotely review our programming schedule but also share what they are watching with friends via social media,” said David Butorac, CEO, OSN.

OSN, in September, acquired Pehla Media & Entertainment, a pay-TV operator which targets the South Asian expatriate community in and around the Gulf states. Pehla carries channels sourced from Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Tamil and Malayam broadcasters.

As to any prospective IPO recent reports suggest that OSN (KIPCO owns 60.5 percent, Saudi-based Mawarid Grp holds 39.5 per cent) has hired Rothchilds as its financial advisors.
