ps4Premium entertainment network EPIX, the joint venture between Viacom, its Paramount Pictures unit, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Lionsgate, has confirmed the availability of the EPIX app on the PlayStation4 (PS4) system in November 2013.

EPIX will be the first premium TV network to launch an authenticated app on the new PS4 system expanding the network’s current streaming deal with Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) from April 2013, which also includes the PlayStation3 (PS3) system.

EPIX provides authenticated subscribers access to more than 3,000 titles on-demand, including a high definition lineup of top blockbusters – The Avengers, Skyfall, The Hunger Games, Flight, Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol, and more – plus classic Hollywood franchises including Star Trek, James Bond and Tyler Perry’s Madea. The network also offers award-winning and thought-provoking original documentaries such as Amar’e Stoudemire: In the Moment, TWA Flight 800 and Schooled: The Price of College Sports, plus music and comedy specials featuring Madonna, Coldplay, Louis CK, Ben Stiller and more.

“We look forward to continuing our relationship with SCEA to offer subscribers a unique and unparalleled experience,” said Mark Greenberg, EPIX CEO and President. “EPIX is committed to providing the best content in every way consumers want it, and working with our technology and distribution partners to create better entertainment experiences across all platforms.”

The ability to stream full movies and concerts on the PS4 system is included as part of the EPIX premium subscription service available through cable, satellite and telco distributors. The EPIX app will be available to PlayStation Network members in the US as a free download from PlayStation Store.

“EPIX is on the forefront of delivering its content to our customers. Its movies and original programming are available through our DISH Anywhere app, as well as devices like PS4 that our customers will soon have in their homes,” said Dave Shull, DISH executive vice president and chief commercial officer. “Together our goal is to deliver great content to our customers in as many ways as possible.”
