Italian public broadcaster RAI and the Autonomous Region of Valle d’Aosta have signed an agreement for technological trials of video recording in 3D and 4K and the introduction of multi-screen applications for citizens and SMEs.

Under this Agreement, to be implemented by RAI’s Strategic Technologies Directorate, audiovisual productions will be filmed with innovative formats (3D, 4K and multi-channel audio) for the purpose of tourism promotion in the Valle d’ Aosta region. There will also be multimedia applications with augmented reality and interactivity in order to provide geographical, historical, cultural and gastronomic information.

The agreement will enable RAI to experiment with new broadcasting technologies such as DVB-T2, also in the “Lite” version suitable for reception on the move. Also planned are trials of innovative services on the DAB+ platform and interactive multilingual services to the benefit of ethnic and linguistic minorities in the Aosta Valley.

Finally, services may also be introduced on various media platform aimed at citizens, businesses and the public administration, including the fields of health, mobility and safety.
