Spain: Prisa TV’s subs up first time in 18 months

For the first time in the last one and half years, Prisa TV, owner of digital DTH platform Canal Plus, has seen an increase in the number of its pay-TV subscribers. The new football pay-TV season boosted its subscriptions with over 23,000 new clients. It is the first positive gain since Q1 2012, and now boasts a market share of almost 44 per cent.
Total pay-TV revenues grew to €869 million, while EBITDA was down to €25.2 million. Satellite subscribers ARPU stood at €42.5 on average (+€0.5 compared to 9M 2012). YOMVI subscribers reach a penetration of 25.3 per cent of Satellite subscribers (compared to 13.2 per cent at September 2012), with 2.61 million monthly downloads (0.97 million as of September 2012).
Its OTT service Yomvi has also improved its numbers with over 25 per cent (440,000) of the DTH users having access to the service against only 13 per cent a year ago. During Q3, 2.61 million downloads were registered monthly on the OTT platform.
