Entone extends home cloud solution with EnterLink

December 17, 2013

Entone, a provider of Hybrid TV and Connected Home solutions, is taking a leadership role in eliminating the need for new wires and set-top boxes in consumers’ homes with the introduction of its EnterLink video networking solution.

Entone’s breakthrough EnterLink solution enables the distribution of TV services to numerous IP-connected devices without requiring new wiring or the necessity of operator-provisioned set-top boxes. The net result is simplified installation, greater consumer choice, and reduced costs.

“EnterLink allows operators to easily deploy hybrid television services to a plethora of IP devices throughout the connected home,” expressed Mark Evensen, founder and CTO of Entone. “With EnterLink, operators have the flexibility to select a whole-home distribution technology that best fits the consumers’ specific needs.”

Recognised for Product of the Year Award at the recent TelcoVision show in Las Vegas, Entone’s solutions offer flexible options for whole-home video distribution, including:

·     Wireless – for 5GHz (802.11ac) Wi-Fi distribution between in-home devices

·     MoCA – for HD video distribution over existing coaxial cabling

·     Boxless – for supporting multiple TV’s from a single set-top box

Wireless:  While prior generations of wireless technologies offered variable results, Entone’s field-proven wireless 5GHz (802.11ac) Wi-Fi solution has made wireless video distribution within the home a practical reality with growing operator appeal. It is fully integrated thus, eliminating visible antennas, external wiring and additional power adapters.

MoCA:  Because majority of homes are already equipped with coaxial cabling, MoCA, a technology that enables the distribution of HD video over existing coaxial cabling, is increasingly being adopted by operators who prefer the improved reliability and cost-effectiveness that comes with MoCA video distribution.

Boxless: Entone’s Boxless feature simplifies installation and reduces the need for operator-provisioned set-top boxes. By enabling the delivery of multiple simultaneous video streams throughout the home from a single set-top box, Entone’s Boxless feature provides a seamless whole-home viewing experience across multiple TV’s with a simple coaxial connection and no additional set-top box.

“Wireless capabilities in hybrid set-top boxes provides a great benefit to consumers and solves a big problem for operators,” stated Brett Sappington, director of research at Parks Associates. “The wireless connection makes it much more likely that consumers will connect their hybrid box to the Internet to access cloud-based services and features from the operator. The Boxless approach goes even further, providing consumers with even more content viewing options and reducing costs for operators. Given these features and MoCA support, Entone’s EnterLink provides great flexibility for subscribers to access operator services within the connected home.”
