Kabelnoord, one of the largest independent cable operators in the northern part of the Netherlands, has selected FTTH home gateway supplier Genexis for the delivery of Gigabit fiber gateways. Kabelnoord will activate the first connections in the second quarter of 2014, commencing with a rollout to at least 8,000 homes in 2014, and 28,000 homes in the coming years. For their network, Kabelnoord will use Genexis’ Gigabit Hybrid gateway providing high-speed fiber routing and wireless in combination with full triple play functions. Kabelnoord is mainly active in the province of Friesland, including the islands of Ameland and Schiermonnikoog.
“To match the service package that we at Kabelnoord will offer to our FTTH customers, we require a reliable and proven solution,” says Anton van der Hoek, CTO at Kabelnoord. “We have witnessed multiple successful FTTH deployments in the Netherlands using the Genexis Hybrid gateway, which positively influenced our decision. The Hybrid includes the right set of features, such as dual concurrent WLAN, at the right price. Furthermore, as a native European company, Genexis offers short lines in terms of technical and after-sales support.”
“Over the past year Kabelnoord and Genexis have been closely working together on a tailored product offering that matches their requirements,” says Ron van Os, Director of Sales & Marketing at Genexis. “The Hybrid enables Kabelnoord to offer their service package using a modular product platform that covers all their needs and wishes today, but also offers great flexibility towards the future. We are pleased Kabelnoord has selected Genexis and we are of course looking forward to a successful collaboration in the years to come.”
Kabelnoord will be deploying a complete Hybrid solution, including fiber termination and the dual concurrent WLAN model of the Live! Titanium Residential Gateway. In addition, Kabelnoord has selected Genexis’ own GAPS system for the management and provisioning of the home gateway.
