The recent agreement between Dish Network and ABC/Disney has led to the satellite pay-TV platform adding a slew of HD channels to its portfolio.
ESPNU, ESPNews, Disney East and ABC Family are all now available as part of Dish’s HD line up. The deal means that sports fans could view the opening game of the important National Invitational college basketball tournament in HD.
ESPNU HD, ESPNews HD, Disney East HD and ABC Family HD channels were previously available in standard definition only and will be accessible via the electronic programming guide of the DISH channel line up for customers in the continental US; while SD versions of the channels remain available, customers in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands will begin receiving available HD versions immediately. Programming on Disney East HD is aligned to the Eastern time zone while Disney West, which is broadcast in SD, airs programming aligned to the Pacific time zone.
