Ymagis, a specialist in digital technologies for the cinema industry, has announced the acquisition of Arqiva’s digital cinema delivery network in Europe.

Ymagis and Arqiva have reached an agreement on the acquisition of Arqiva’s network in the digital delivery of feature-films, trailers and advertising content to theatres. Ymagis ‘s subsidiary Smartjog Ymagis Logistics will take over the satellite receivers installed and managed by Arqiva in around 750 connected theatres in more than 10 European countries, including 378 in the United Kingdom and Ireland as well as 137 in Italy, which will join its existing network of 1,964 connected theatres in 9 countries. With this acquisition, Smartjog Ymagis Logistics will manage the largest digital cinema delivery network in the world.

Jean Mizrahi, Ymagis CEO, said on this occasion:  “The purchase of Arqiva assets makes it possible for Smartjog Ymagis Logistics, already the number one European player in digital content logistics for the cinema industry, to gain a leading position in the United Kingdom and Ireland and a strong position in Italy – strategic regions for the Group’s development, and in which we were not yet present. The quality, the geographic coverage and the size of Smartjog Ymagis Logistics network following the conclusion of this purchase sets us up de facto as the ideal partner for distributors, especially for those in search of a player who can offer an integrated global solution on a European scale. Our goal is to build a wide network of satellite and IP receivers throughout Europe in order to provide tailored solutions to film distributors and advertising agencies with the view to progressively reduce the cost of logistics for digital contents”.
