Italian thematic channel laeffe has launched on DTH platform TivuSat with a schedule consisting of documentaries, cultural programmes as well as TV series and movies.

The channel, which was previously only available on DTT, is produced by Italian media group Feltrinelli and has been allocated channel position 50. However, since laeffe is transmitted in Standard Definition DVBS-2 it can only be received by viewers equipped with a HD digital box or HD compatible TV set with TivuSat CAM.

An estimated 13 per cent of Italians receive TV via the TivuSat platform, according to data from March published by Auditel. The dominant distribution platform remains DTT, with 198 national TV and 182 local TV channels and received by 95.8 per cent of the population; followed by Sky Italia which reaches 17.8 per cent of Italians.
