upc cablecom DSO begins in June

May 23, 2014

upc cablecom is reducing its analogue parallel offer in German-speaking Switzerland and in parts of French-speaking Switzerland for the last time on June 3rd, before it switches analogue television off completely in 2015. Customers who still watch TV with a CRT television set can order a free converter from upc cablecom.

In a statement, the company said: “The broad acceptance of digital television over the past 15 years has caused several cable operators to switch off their analogue signal completely. upc cablecom is now following suit. Next year, on a date yet to be determined, Switzerland’s largest cable operator will switch off its analogue parallel offer completely. On June 3rd, it is altering its analogue offering for the last time and concentrating on the 17 most watched channels. These 8 channels will no longer be broadcast in analogue and will only be broadcast digitally in German-speaking Switzerland after 3 June: ORF eins, 3sat, Kika/Arte, Star TV, RTS Un, RTS Deux, RSI La 1 and RSI La 2. In French-speaking Switzerland the following channels will no longer be broadcast in analogue:Euronews, TVm3, MCM Top, TV5MONDE, RSI La 1, RSI La 2, SRF zwei, ZDF, ARD, RTL and Sat.1. The Geneva and Morges region is excluded from the change to the analogue offer.”
