Blinkbox touts Game of Thrones Tesco tie-up
June 17, 2014
UK digital movie service blinkbox is promoting its biggest ever tie up with parent company supermarket retailer Tesco with its largest marketing campaign for a TV show as Game of Thrones Season 4 arrives on the service months before its DVD release.
To launch the arrival Season 4 on June 17, blinkbox is giving away 1,000 loyalty scheme Tesco Clubcard points and a free 10” Finest pizza with every purchase of the epic series.
blinkbox describes the promotion as “the most generous ever” saying it marks a strategic shift towards regular loyalty mechanics in a bid to tempt new customers and drive loyalty.
There is an additional incentive to try it with blinkbox – 250 Clubcard points with the purchase of any of the previous three series. Customers who buy all four series of Game of Thrones with blinkbox will be rewarded with 1,750 Clubcard points.
The exclusive pizza and points offer for Game of Thrones Season 4 will feature in the biggest ever marketing blitz for a single TV title, supported by TV advertising and digital, social, video and email communications.
Tesco will also be selling exclusive limited edition blinkbox Game of Thrones Movie and TV cards featuring key character artwork. The £5, £10 and £20 cards are available to buy in all Tesco Extra stores throughout the UK.
According to blinkbox Managing Director Adrian Letts, the campaign represented a watershed moment for blinkbox Movies and TV. “It’s our most generous giveaway ever and proves that we are committed to offering the very latest and best TV without subscription and rewarding customers for choosing us with exclusive offers. The message is clear – we’ll treat customers like royalty for their loyalty.”
The service is available on a range of Internet-connected devices including games consoles, tablets, Smart TVs, Blu-ray players, set-top boxes and desktop computers.
