Perform unveils Goal.com Glassware

June 24, 2014

Perform, the digital sports content company, has announced the development of Goal.com Glassware, which it has developed as part of Google’s Glass Explorer programme. The Glassware will offer football fans content from international and domestic leagues and competitions from around the world, including match updates, exclusives, features, player transfer stories and the latest news.

This is the first time Perform has developed Glassware, and the company is currently exploring further ways that the technology can enhance the user experience for sports fans. Perform has optimised the user experience by allowing people using Google Glass to subscribe to their favourite football categories and stay right up to date with the latest news. With Glass, football fans will get alerts as they happen so they can stay up to date on the latest news without being distracted from what they are doing.

Russell Stopford, Perform’s Product Development Director, added: “Smart Glasses are expected to emerge as a key platform in the wearables space and we’re excited to be at the forefront of this development. We are continually exploring innovative opportunities to share our market leading sports data and will potentially bring our live match scores and updates from our successful Goal Live smartphone and tablet app to the Glass Explorer programme. We are pleased to be among the first companies exploring how Glass can change the future of fans’ digital consumption and interaction.”

Martyn Jones, Global Brand and Platforms Partnerships Director, Perform, said: “Football fans demand immediate real time information and wearable technology will allow Goal to deliver a seamless ‘always on’ experience. Perform is at the forefront of commercialising sports content and the Glass Explorer Programme ensures we monitor consumption and evolve the business strategy in this fascinating sector.”
